Do I have to be a cancer survivor to use the iTHRIVE Plan?
While the plan is created specifically with cancer survivors in mind, you do not have to be a cancer survivor. Using the iTHRIVE Plan plan can benefit anyone who is trying to regain or maintain wellness in the five key areas of emphasis: diet, movement, environment, rejuvenation, and spirit.
How does iTHRIVE define "cancer survivor”?
We adopt the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) definition of a cancer survivor as, "any person diagnosed with cancer, from the time of initial diagnosis until his or her death.” For us, survivorship starts the minute you are diagnosed!
How is my information protected?
Who created the iTHRIVE Plan?
The iTHRIVE Plan is the brainchild of co-founders Karolyn Gazella and Dr. Lise Alschuler. Karolyn is an ovarian cancer survivor and Lise is a breast cancer survivor. Lise is also a naturopathic oncologist. Both Karolyn and Lise have lost a parent to pancreatic cancer. Together, they have written books for people with cancer including: Definitive Guide to Cancer: An Integrative Approach to Prevention, Treatment and Healing and Definitive Guide to Thriving After Cancer. Karolyn and Lise co-host a radio show for people affected by cancer (Five to Thrive Live! On w4cs.com) and give presentations across the country. Karolyn and Lise are passionate about improving the lives of those affected by cancer and feel that the iTHRIVE Plan is the culmination of their life work.
Can I do the plan if I am still in active treatment?
Yes absolutely. While the plan is completely safe to use while going through active treatment, we suggest you discuss it with your doctor and keep your doctor abreast of your progress while using the plan.
I have an idea for how to make the iTHRIVE Plan better. How can I share this idea?
We love it when we hear from Thrivers using the iTHRIVE Plan! Please email us at Support@iTHRIVEPlan.com and tell us your idea and why you think it is an important improvement.
What browser is best?
Right now the iTHRIVE plan does not work well using Internet Explorer or Edge so it’s best not to use that browser. It does work well on Safari, Chrome and Firefox.

You can update your payment information at any time in your profile. You can access your profile from the left navigation bar. On your profile page, simply enter the new information in the corresponding data fields. Note: payment information is not required for users who are registered through a participating iTHRIVE Cancer Center.

Why is the health survey so significant?
The iTHRIVE Plan survey is the key to creating an entirely individualized iTHRIVE Plan to you. The health survey also identifies areas of distress, some of which may prompt you to consult with your healthcare provider. Your answers to the health attributes section of the survey are also used to filter out any Action Steps that would be unsafe or inappropriate for you. Your answers to the Strengths Report section of the survey are fed into a proprietary mathematical formula which is used to generate your level of strength within each of these areas: diet, movement, environment, rejuvenation, and spirit). Based on your strengths, you will then be recommended an iTHRIVE Plan that is personalized just for you.
Where do I find the results of my survey?
The results of your survey can be found on your dashboard as your Strengths Report. This report shows your relative strength in each area as a bar graph.
Will I retake the survey?
You will be prompted to re-take the survey after you complete 8 Action Steps. This allows you to see your progress in terms of your Strengths Report. And, as your answers to the survey change, you will benefit from different Action Steps. By retaking the survey, you will be presented with a new iTHRIVE Plan.
Why are there 5 components of the iTHRIVE Plan?
The 5 parts of the iTHRIVE Plan – Diet, Movement, Environment, Rejuvenation and Spirit areas of our lifestyle that have the biggest impact on our health, recovery from treatment and risk reduction. Each of these areas has significant impact on its own, and each area reinforces health in all other areas.
What is included in Diet?
The Diet action steps are based upon a plant-based diet that emphasizes whole and nutrient-dense foods, while minimizing processed and refined foods.
What is included in Movement?
Movement includes exercise, stretching, and ways to reduce sedentary behavior.
What is included in Environment?
Environment includes ways to remove harmful chemicals from personal care products and household products as well as ways to improve the environmental safety of our home environment.
What is included in Rejuvenation?
Rejuvenation includes stress management strategies as well as ways to improve rest and relaxation.
What is included in Spirit?
Spirit is about living a values-based life. In Spirit, you will find strategies to build love, gratitude, joy, community and mindfulness.
What is an Action Step?
An Action Step is a sequence of 5 daily activities which, together, build a new behavior, perspective or habit. Each daily activity builds upon the prior day and the days are sequenced together so that by the end of the 5-day Action Step, you will have gained profound new insight and will have built a sustainable habit.
What is the difference between Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels of Action steps?
Each Action step is designed to best fit your current capability within each area of the iTHRIVE Plan (Diet, Movement, Environment, Rejuvenation, and Spirit). The goal is not necessarily to move from beginning to advanced levels in each of these areas. The goal is for you do Action Steps that match your current ability and to give you exactly what you need to make positive changes in small, but significant steps.
How can I trust the recommendations of the iTHRIVE Plan?
All of the recommendations found in this App are based on clinical human studies – every single one! Not only that, the recommendations found in the iTHRIVE Plan have been tested in the clinical practice of co-founder, Dr. Lise Alschuler.
Can I view all 5 days of my Action Step at once?
The iTHRIVE Plan is built to give you one activity or piece of information each day for each Action Step, so you cannot complete more than one activity per day for each Action Step in your plan. The reason for this is that by breaking up each Action Step into small components, you will be more likely to create a sustainable new habit.
What do I do if I log in to my Plan and am not able to view my Daily Action Step?
If you have not already completed one activity today (see above question) you are most likely experiencing this problem because not enough time has elapsed since you completed the last daily activity. Try waiting until 24 hours has passed since you completed the last daily activity. If this doesn’t work, then you have uncovered a new bug, and we would appreciate you letting us know by sending an email to Support@iTHRIVEPlan.com.
Why can’t I add more than two Action Steps to my plan?
From our experience working with cancer survivors for the last ten years, and from feedback of early testers, we discovered that you are more likely to succeed with making sustainable changes if you don’t take on too much at once. Two Action Steps at a time is plenty, believe us!
I don’t want to finish the Action Step I am currently working on. Can I switch it for another one?
Of course – this is your plan! Click on “Modify My Plan.” You will then see that you can remove an Action Step from your plan. If you decide to work on this Action Step in the future, the Plan will remember where you left off.
Why I am not seeing very many (or any) “Top Recommended Action Steps” when I try to modify my plan?
Congratulations – this means you have completed all of the Action Steps that were recommended for you based on your survey answers! To see new recommended Action Steps, just retake the survey.
I don’t want to do any of the Action Steps in my “Top Recommended Action Steps. How do I get other Action Steps to choose from?
We’re sorry none of your Top Recommended Action Steps are appealing to you right now. There are two ways to see new Action Steps. You can click on any of the five icons below the Top Recommended Action Steps to see Action Steps that focus on that strategy. For example, if you want to see an Action Step related to movement, click on the blue circle with a shoe in it and you will see some Movement Action Steps you can add to your plan. The other way to receive new recommendations is to retake your survey.
How do I see my answers to the survey?
In the initial version, there is no way for you to see your answers after you complete that section of the survey. However, the Strengths Report summarizes all of your answers and shows your relative strength in each strategy. In the future, we will be adding the ability to see your past survey answers.
How do I repeat one of the Action Steps I have already completed?
If you retake the survey, the Plan may recommend an Action Step you have already completed. If so, you can add it to your plan and do it again. However, in the beta version of the iTHRIVE Plan, there is no other way to add a completed Action Step to your current plan.
